Meredith Adams, MD, MS, FASA, FAMIA, is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology, Biomedical Informatics, Physiology & Pharmacology, and Public Health Sciences at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFSOM). She is a NIH-funded researcher with board certification in anesthesiology, pain medicine, and clinical informatics. Dr. Adams was recently awarded the NIH HEAL Director’s Trailblazer Award. Her pain and addiction informatics research programmatic line includes economic analysis, machine learning and artificial intelligence tool development, data infrastructure support, data visualization, and health equity (R24, U01, U24). She completed her clinical training (anesthesiology and pain medicine) and chief residency at Johns Hopkins. She previously served and mentored as the Pain Medicine Fellowship Adult and Pediatric Pain Program Director, receiving the AAPM Fellowship Excellence Award. Her mentored research training began with an FAER Mentored Research in Education grant, and she later received an NIH National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering Mentored Clinician Scientist (K08) grant. In addition to her primary informatics focus, she speaks and publishes on expanding the academic research pipeline as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion. She serves on the Board of Trustees for the International Anesthesia Research Society. She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology, American Academy of Pain Medicine, and American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine’s research, education, and health policy committees.
